Water Park Day — Lazy River + Slides
Arrive early. Volcano Bay hits capacity on summer days and stops admitting guests. Get there for opening.
For the Family
- Kopiko Wai Winding River — the lazy river. Gentle, scenic, winds through the park and through the base of the volcano (a short darker section with mild effects inside). Perfect for the boys with their life vests. Ride it multiple times
- Runamukka Reef — kid-friendly play area (ages up to ~12, max 54"). Slides, water cannons, sprayers, dumping bucket. The boys and Ada will love this
- Tot Tiki Reef — for the more cautious/younger kids. Small slides, very shallow water
- Krakatau Aqua Coaster (42") — family raft ride, moderately thrilling. Oisin and Ada can likely ride
- Taniwha Tubes (42") — twisting family raft ride. Fun for everyone who meets the height
- The Reef — leisure/wave pool with calmer section
What You Need to Know
Standby queues: Volcano Bay discontinued its TapuTapu virtual queue system in October 2025. Slides now use traditional standby queues — arrive early to beat the crowds, and expect some waiting for the popular slides during peak summer.
- Life vests are free at the park in multiple sizes — use them in addition to the ones you bought
- Bring water shoes — the walkways get scorching hot in July
- Bring a portable charger — you'll want your phone for photos
- Lockers available for rent near the entrance
For Ella and the Adults
- Ko'okiri Body Plunge (48") — 70-degree drop through a trap door. For the brave
- Maku and Puhi (42") — body slides, intense
- Honu (42") — thrilling multi-person raft
Half day or full day depending on energy. Arrive at opening to get the most out of the morning before the queues build up.
